Hilliard is a small town in western Nassau County, set along U.S. 1 and U.S. 301 north of Callahan and a short distance from the Georgia line. Buyers assigned to NAS Jacksonville or Naval Station Mayport usually drive south on U.S. 1 toward Callahan and then into Jacksonville, a longer commute that brings more room and a rural setting.
