Kernan Forest is a residential subdivision in Jacksonville's Kernan Boulevard corridor, in eastern Duval County between Beach Boulevard and the McCormick Road area, where much of the growth of the last several decades has filled in around the University of North Florida and Mayo Clinic. As its name suggests, the community is a wooded one, with homes set among mature trees in a part of the city that mixes established subdivisions with newer development along Kernan's length. Housing here is single-family in character, on local streets set back from the busy boulevard itself. Public schools are part of Duval County Public Schools, and the Intracoastal Waterway and Jacksonville's beaches lie a short drive east along Beach or J. Turner Butler Boulevard.
