Old Orange Park is the historic heart of Orange Park, in Clay County on the west bank of the St. Johns River, where Kingsley Avenue and Park Avenue run under some of the oldest oak canopy in the area. Orange Park began as a nineteenth-century resort and citrus town, and its oldest streets still hold homes from many eras, from early cottages to mid-century houses, on lots shaded by mature live oaks a short walk from the river. The Club Continental grounds and the riverfront along River Road mark the neighborhood's eastern edge. Public schools are part of Clay County District Schools. US 17, known locally as Park Avenue through town, connects Old Orange Park north to Jacksonville and Naval Air Station Jacksonville and south to Fleming Island and Green Cove Springs.
