South Ponte Vedra Beach is the quieter stretch of oceanfront along A1A (South Ponte Vedra Boulevard) between Ponte Vedra Beach and Vilano Beach, a narrow strip of land with the Atlantic on one side and the Guana and Tolomato rivers on the other. Homes are mostly single-family beach houses from the late 1990s to new construction, in communities such as Turtle Shores, Tides Edge and Beachside, plus condos at Serenata Beach. The Guana Tolomato Matanzas National Estuarine Research Reserve has beach access and hiking trails off A1A. Naval Station Mayport is about 30 miles north.
