St. Nicholas is one of Jacksonville's oldest neighborhoods, set on the south bank of the St. Johns River just southeast of Downtown across the river, along the Atlantic Boulevard corridor. Settled in the 19th century, it holds a mix of historic homes, brick streets in places and mature oak canopy, with the river at its northern edge and San Marco and Southside beyond. The wider St. Nicholas area covered here also takes in St Nicholas Park, St Nicholas Place, St Nicholas Springs and the Preserve At St Nicholas, so housing ranges across several small subdivisions rather than one uniform plan.
