Woods of Ortega is a wooded residential subdivision in the Ortega area of Jacksonville, on the west bank of the St. Johns River in Duval County. Ortega is one of the city's older riverfront districts, known for its oak canopy, river views, and proximity to the Ortega River, and this subdivision shares that heavily treed setting. Homes sit on quiet interior streets set back from Roosevelt Boulevard, which is US 17 through this part of the city and the main route toward downtown Jacksonville to the north and Naval Air Station Jacksonville to the south. The neighborhood itself is purely residential, with shopping and dining found along Roosevelt Boulevard and in nearby Avondale and Riverside. Public schools are part of Duval County Public Schools.
